         <title>Odyssey of the Mind</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<p align="left">Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.          <title>MEGAT Conference</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: 'Century Gothic'">The Maine Educators of the Gifted and Talented (MEGAT) will hold their annual conference on November 10, 2008 at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston, Maine.<p>&nbsp;</p></span><span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: 'Century Gothic'">This year the conference is titled <em><span style="font-family: 'Century Gothic'">The Art of Sharing</span></em> and will focus on sharing ideas and information about Gifted &amp; Talented education and programs in the state, with an emphasis on the Arts.<p>&nbsp;</p></span><span style="font-size: 20pt; font-family: 'Century Gothic'">Conference information is available at <a href="http://www.megat.org/">www.megat.org</a>.<p>&nbsp;</p></span>]]></description>

         <title>Challenge of the Week</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<font face="Times New Roman">GATES Challenge of the Week (C.O.W.)<br /></font><p><font face="Times New Roman">&nbsp;</font></p><font face="Times New Roman">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </font>Each week we will be putting out a math challenge to the students of SRS.&nbsp; The purpose of the challenge is for students to have <strong>fun</strong> and recognize math all around.&nbsp; It offers an opportunity for students to take a different look at math.&nbsp;&nbsp; Students should seek help from friends, siblings, parents, and anyone else who is willing!&nbsp; <strong>If one problem becomes frustrating, it is all right to go on to the next problem.&nbsp; </strong>This is meant to be a voluntary activity and students may participate as often as they would like.&nbsp; A record is kept of the students who participate throughout the year and those who consistently hand in COWs will receive a certificate at the end of the year.&nbsp; <strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br /></strong><span />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The challenges will be available each Thursday and due back no later than the following Tuesday.&nbsp; With each week's challenge you will find the answers to the previous week's challenge on the back.&nbsp; The questions primarily come from Continental Math League questions for 4<sup>th</sup> and 5<sup>th</sup> grade students.&nbsp; <strong>The first COW is due Tuesday, September 23rd.&nbsp; </strong>Good Luck!&nbsp; Have Fun!<font face="Times New Roman">&nbsp; </font><br />]]></description>

         <title>Math Team Sign-Up</title>
