Good Bye and Hello .....
Dear old friends and new families,
I wish to bid my families from last year farewell as your child moves on to first grade. I know the year ahead will be another year full of learning and new experiences at KES, as well as for your child in their personal and family lives and development. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you this past school year and I do extend my good wishes to all of the children. I will be on the lookout for them as we travel throughout the hallways and they are also welcome to come and visit with Nana and I. I would recommend that you subscribe to your new teachers' blog for up to date information and communications.
It is my great pleasure to welcome in the new children that will be in my class for the 2008-2009 school year. I am anxious to meet my new friends and their families. I have been busy the past few weeks getting the classroom all ready for the children. You will notice when you come in for the sneak a peek that many of the areas of the classroom and the materials within the classroom will be "closed" and off limits to the children for the first few weeks. This reflects the "Responsive Classroom" philosopy that our school follows. I will be introducing the children to each material in the classroom and together we will agree on its safe and purposeful usage. This helps make the classroom truly the children's and also builds the "community" within our classroom that will flourish throughout the school year. I will be reviewing this approach along with general curriculum areas covered, etc. when you come in for the parent orientation on Thursday evening, August 28th. Please bring along any questions that you may have and I will do my best to address them. I also wish to let you know that in our classroom we have a very special foster grandparent, "Nana" who is here every morning until noon time. We are so fortunate to have Nana--she comes to us through the People's Regional Opportunity Program (PROP), Foster Grandparent Program. You will meet her at our Sneak a Peek. I would encourage you to sign up for this blog, as I send regular updates that you will receive automatically through your e-mail account, if you wish.

Enjoy these last few days of summer before school begins! Finally the weather has become sunny and summer like. I am excited, as I know the children must be too! See you all at our sneak a peek!
