October
Dear Parents,
October has been a busy month. We completed our Ecosystem Unit in science with a very interesting trip to the Wells Reserve. Thanks to Ray Therrien's Mom and Gabby Harrison's Dad for chaperoning. We had a beautiful sunny day! All students were really engaged in all the activities, and I was very proud of them! We will begin our Rock and Mineral Unit very soon with a rock hounding trip to the Ham and Weeks Mine in Wakefield, NH. It will take place on our original date October 25th which is a Thursday. I welcome parents to join us. You will need to drive in your own cars as the bus will be full. You can follow the bus and I will also have direction for you. The bus will leave Sea Road School around 8:30 and arrive back around 1:30. Don't forget to bring a pail and a trowel. It's lots of fun looking for that special rock or mineral!!
Our Social Studies Unit on immigration will end on the 31st of October with our arrival at Ellis Island. Please have your children dressed as immigrants when they arrive that day. We will began our day with a parade around the school and end up in the gym. Please join us in the gym for a review and pictures(if you wish) of your immigrant.
Our genre is on biographries this month. Please encourage your child to read 30 minutes a night.
In Everyday Math we completed Unit 2 and have begun Unit 3. Please practice those multiplication facts with your child each night for 10 minutes.
If you have any concerns regarding your child please give me a call. Thanks for all your support
with homework.
