Holiday Fair Raffle Box Reminder/Volunteers

I would like to remind you that the Holiday Fair is fast approaching! Our classroom will be filling a box with School Supplies, that will be raffled off at the fair on December 4th. I have already received some great items for the box. If you have a chance to get a couple of items for our theme box, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support with this!!

We are also still in need of volunteers to work at the fair. The multi-level/Looping teachers are responsible for getting people to help at the Gift Wrap and the Raffle tables. If you are available to help us that day.... please let me know.  Thans!!

We hope you can join us November 7th!!

All of the children in the fifth grade classrooms, as well as the multi level classrooms, have been learning about the historical and cultural backgrounds of Native American tribes. They are currently working hard to put the finishing touches on their posters and items that are being made in art class. All of their items will be on display, in the Sea Road School gym, on November 7th.

The children and I would like to have you join us in the gym that morning, 9:30-10:00 for our culminating activity. I know the exhibits will be impressive. After viewing the exhibits, at about 10:00, we would like to have you join us back in the classroom for a few minutes, to try some of the favorite tribal foods the chidren have prepared.

I hope you will be able to join us on November 7th.

Fabulous First Month

It is hard to believe the first month of school is almost over, and I want to add.... that it has been a FABULOUS month!!

The children and I have been very busy!!

Each of the children have chosen a mystery to read for their October book report. Their book reports will be due on October 15th.

In social studies we are studying the Native Americans, and are learning about the historical and cultural backgrounds of the different tribes. We have had many wonderful class discussions about this topic. The children in my class will be doing research on the Eastern Woodlands tribes, as well as making items in art class, that pertain to their lifestyle and culture. There will be an opportunity for you to see and hear what the children have learned on November 7th . I will let you know the specific details at another time.

In science we are learning a lot about energy. We recently did an experiment with toys so we would have a better understanding of "Energy Forms and Transfers". There will be many more fun an interesting experiments to do... as we continue to learn about energy.

Welcome Back!!!

Hello everyone!! I hope each of you had a nice  summer, and were able to enjoy some special time with friends and family. I had a wonderful summer, filled with gardening, spending time at the lake, and enjoying my family and friends.

I have been busy the past couple of weeks preparing for a new school year. I am very anxious to see my returning fifth grade students, and equally as anxious to meet, and get to know ,my new fourth grade students.

Sea Road School will have their Parent Informational Evening on September 15th. I will be speaking with parents 6:30-7:15. I hope to see all of you on September 15th.

Enjoy the last few beautiful days of summer vacation!!! Please tell your children that I will be outside on the playground the first day of school, waiting for them to arrive.
