Welcome to my Room!!!!!

Welcome to my Kindergarten Blog!  Thank you for subscribing.  Here you will get a weekly newsletter for upcoming events and happenings in our room as well as the kindergarten team.

Thank you to everyone for attending "sneak-a-peek" and Parent Orientation Night.  It was really wonderful to meet my new friends as well as Mom's and Dad's :)!!

I will be meeting our buses Thursday morning. I will be wearing a sunflower nametag as well.  If you could send in their art shirt that day, it would be greatly appreciated. They will be attending Art Class on Thursday.

September News

I can't beleive that we have been in school for seven days now!!! The students have adjusted extremely well. The routines of the classroom, lunch, specials and of course the playground have come right into place. We have begun our student of the day and this is a great opportunity for the students to take a little more individual resposibilty around our school. They love it!

We have started our Growth and Change theme this month as well as learning about our names. If you haven't sent in a baby picture of your child yet, please do.

This week we have had guided discovery in a lot of areas in the classroom. We have explored markers, crayons, unifix cubes, legos, pattern blocks, house keeping area as well as the sand table.  The students have been making smart choices in all areas, and using their time wisely.

Eric Carle is a big part of our literacy theme  this month.  If you would like to send in some of your child's favorite Eric Carle books, we would love to read them together.  We will start The Very Hungry Caterpillar next week.

We have begun our discussion on our HOPES and DREAMS for the year. These will tie nicely into our classroom expectations.

Please do not hesitate to call or email me  with any concerns or comments you might have.  What a fantastic start to a wonderful  new year in school.

Thanks for all your support.

November News!

I hope everyone received their Parent Conference Confirmation Slip. If that time is not okay, please let me know and we can reschedule.

This week we will be reviewing the letters M,S,F,H,T and A.  Practice at home is very important, both uppercase and lowercase.

If you have any boxes and empty papertowel and tissue  rolls, please send them in for our construction unit. We should be assembling in December.

Just a reminder that Wed., the 12th is another early release day. We will have a half day on Wednesday the 26th, for our Thanksgiving break.

Since the days are much cooler now, please send your child to school with a warm coat, a hat and mittens. It's a good idea to pack an extra hat to leave in their  cubbie.

Thanks for all you do,

Miss CoatesSmile
