      <![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">It has been a while since my last Blog and I am so very sorry&hellip; but I have barely had a moment to sit and type. Your little learners have been keeping me very busy.</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">In math students have been working with estimating, reading and showing temperatures, and working with number stories.</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Science has us working with the ideas behind motion (path, speed, distance, push/pulls, and collisions). The students have set up experiments and tested their hypothesis. Bill Nye the Science Guy (a video) gave us a lot of information and was very funny to watch!</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">The study of the earth, mapping skills, and continents are a current focus in social studies&hellip; soon enough you will see large blue globes headed your way! </font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">I am looking forward to meeting with you when you come in for your child&rsquo;s conference.       <![CDATA[<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Volunteers have started make their way into D123 and we are all the better for it! Whether it was reading groups, math groups, or the craziness of lesson 7 in science the volunteers came through and everything went very well.</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">Speaking of volunteers, Kelly (Sage&rsquo;s Mom), Alyson (Nate&rsquo;s Mom), and Cheryl (Christine&rsquo;s Mom) accompanied us on our field trip to the Police and Fire Station. We continue to learn about digraphs, blends and focus on the difference between &ldquo;open and closed&rdquo; syllables. Math, we just love math! Grouping by 10&rsquo;s, using a calculator, telling time, and adding coins have all been a topic of discussion. Our first math homework went out this week and 100 percent came back &ndash; perfect!       <![CDATA[<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">What town do we live? What street do we live on? What is my telephone number?</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">These are all questions we tried to answer as we create our classroom address book. As soon as it is printed I will get it out to you. It is prefect for creating play dates with new and old friends. This is a skill we will continue to work on as many found it to be a challenge.</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">We continue to learn names and interests of classmates&hellip; we keep finding that many of us like similar things and lead very similar lifestyles (many have pets, many like pizza, many love the color blue, etc).</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">We love spelling and it was easy to tell as this week we learned about digraphs.</font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">Math was fun this week as we really spent a lot of energy working on telling time.       <![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">I hope that you all have a weekend full of rest. Just a few reminders and points of interest about what you will find in their backpacks this weekend. I sent home a few things for the students to start working on. I do not need anything back for a few days so you all have plenty of time to work on them.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">1. &ldquo;Me Bags&rdquo; &ndash; take a few days and collect little things that tell about who your child is and where they have been. Then send in the bag full of 6-7 items. We will share them in class and then display them in the room.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">2. Classroom rules &ndash; take a few minutes and sit down with your child. Aid them in developing quality rules they should have in the classroom. Before landing in Kennebunk I attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where I received my BS degree. I later went on to obtain a MS degree from the University of New England. I am married and have one daughter. My wife, Michelle, is an educator at a hospital in New Hampshire. My daughter, Delaney, is almost two years old and is&hellip;well&hellip; a sweetheart!</font></font></p><p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">&nbsp;</font></p> <p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I am committed to fulfilling my mission which is to foster a love of learning in my students. To show my students that education has a direct link to opportunity. I will dedicate myself to helping your child reach his or her potential this year.
