We had a great first day yesterday. Alot of information to absorb !!!

1. I will be starting my afterschool study hall next Tuesday from 3:00-3:50. All are welcome. I will provide a snack and drinks. This is a great time to get homework done. I will continue with these Tuesday study halls for the entire school year. 

2. Open House September 15th 7:30-8:15p.m.

3. We will begin Hatchet tomorrow.

4. Scholastic News questions will be due a week from Friday. We will do this first one together so the children understand what the assignment entails.

5. Band lesson begin this coming Monday. 5th grade lessons are from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 in the morning. MOnday- Flutes, Tuesday- Clarinets, Wednesday- Saxophones, Thursday - Brass, and Friday- Percussion

6. Our specials are as follows: Monday- P.E., Tuesday- Computer Lab, Wednesday- Music, Thursday- Art and Friday- Library

What's coming up this week...

1. Tuesdays from 3:00-3:50 ( beginning this week ) I will have an after school study hall. I will provide snacks and drinks. All are welcome.

2. Last Friday I handed out a vocabulary packet. The children will receive one of these each week. On the following Friday, the completed packet is due and there will be a vocabulary quiz on the words from the packet.

3. Also on Fridays, the children will receive a Scholastic News magazine and accompanying questions. These questions will be due the following Friday. They will also have a quiz on the articles in the magazine. We have been working on the first Scholastic together.

4. I will be helping the children "chunk" these long term assignments so they are not overwhelmed.

5. Don't forget this Wednesday is an Early Release Day.

1. Today we will be assigning the Native American research project. We will work primarily on this in class. The children will research individual tribes, create a poster and written report on specific topics of that tribe. A POWWOW will culminate this project on 11/7 in the SRS gym.

2. If you have any extra paper bags that you would like to donate, I would love to have them. We will be using them to make "animal skins" to put our legends on.

3. This Thursday there is an ice cream social at KES. All are welcome !

4. Book reports are due October 2nd. They are required to complete a summary of the book as well as a chosen project.

5. We are studying energy transfers in Science class.

***  When there is an asterisk before an assignment, the children are allowed to skip the assignment using their homework passes. They must let me know the night the homework is assigned, if they intend on skipping it. They are not allowed to come in the morning the assignment is due and ask to skip it.
